The Toolbox

We use the term tools rather than software since they stem from a network engineers needs rather than a software engineers capability. Our toolbox is deployed as a package together with our experts. The software is used not only by the Solnem experts but also by the operators and vendors. Our toolbox is multi-vendor and multi-technology supporting the major equipment suppliers across GSM, CDMA, UMTS, LTE and WiMAX.

We believe in hitting the ground running, from the outset of our tool design was an aim to not re-invent the wheel or introduce new interfaces that require detailed training. We try rather, to rely on proven front-end tools available, whether it is Mapinfo, QGIS, Google Maps/Earth, Excel and browsers. This also allows focus towards the engine development rather than GUI. The majority of the software deployed is open-source and licensed under GPL, connecting all this together are our core engines to deliver information to the database and the engineers. Deployment of the tool has been performed where under a multi-vendor environment vendors were allowed access to the database, our administration manager software ensured different user profiles only allowed access for those vendors to their statistics and configuration and not to other vendors - this was critical to ensure a level playing field between vendor competitors. Deployments of our software have been performed literally within days, due to the use of scalable architecture we have been able to re-use existing servers to host the service.

Cella

The engine and database that drives the configuration management. Cella facilitates cross-vendor/cross-technology auditing, automated corretion scipts.

Automated retrieval of data sources (no expensive northbound interface need) via MML, XML, Text based processing.

Yeti

The main engine and database for performance related data. The data is available in raw and aggregated sets for granulatities of a minutes to days. The yeti service ensures that the data is updated in a timely manner

Solmi

The main map interface module that works within Mapinfo to deliver configuration, performance and physical information. Functionality for maps is also extended with provision for Google Earth and QGIS

Kito

KITO is the part of the toolbox most commonly used by our engineers. It facilitates Excel connection to performance, configuration and physical data.

Spaghetti

Spaghetti provides a fast way to link the engineer to configuration management. The Execl based tool allows reports to be viewed and configuration changes to be requested or implemented. Via the toolbox engine XML and MML can be issued.

Myne

This is the main access point for user management and reports. Via the browser a variety of different aspects of the toolbox can be accessed and configured
